I had my accident at such a young age that the only choice I had was to pick myself up and live or lay down and give up. I chose to live! At the age of 18, I went back to work, started school, and moved to Miami. I was alone at the age of 22, and I put myself through school again while working full-time. Somehow, I just keep going and I don’t know how to stop. Boy, what a ride it’s been! At times, this disability has taken a toll on me physically and mentally, but it has taught me a lot of lessons. The strength and self-knowledge my accident has afforded me has been life-changing.
