Andrea Greer
Andrea Greer was a teacher, social worker and attorney before she had a hypoxic brain injury, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro. As a life-long lover of art and music, both have been a critical aspect of her healing from brain injury (signing, dancing, writing, drawing).
She recently did her first ever cabaret show in our mom’s living room singing five Broadway songs that are personal to her recovery and is writing a book for children about brain injury and illustrating it herself, with help since the injury left her sight, hearing and cognitively challenged. Andrea ran the marathon blind for the first time last year, in the same time she ran it before the injury.
There is no way to thank our photographer Lisa Nalven for bringing so much joy into our lives by spending the day in Central Park and East Harlem with us shooting our jumping for joy. It’s not easy having brain injury, nor is the job of legal guardian, a role my sister took on when this happened to me on July 10, 2021. We sincerely need an artistic community to help us keep creating art and sharing it with others.
