Living with Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus, Type 1 Diabetes, and Chronic Kidney Disease has taught me resilience. The water is where I feel most free. As a para-athlete, every lap I swim reminds me that my disabilities don’t define me, my determination does. The medals on my wheelchair represent perseverance, dedication, and countless hours of training.
Navigating life with multiple diagnoses means facing challenges daily, but in the pool, I’m not “the woman in the wheelchair.” I’m an athlete. A competitor. A champion.
Strength shows up in different ways. Disability doesn’t mean a lack of ability; it means having strong determination.
