Thuthula Sodumo: BBP/UCLA Model

Thuthula Sodumo is a South African usability and accessibility advocate working at the intersection of gender, disability, and social justice. A Mandela Washington Fellow in Civic Engagement, she is deeply committed to promoting inclusive design and equitable access for marginalized communities, particularly women with disabilities. Through her academic and advocacy work, Thuthula explores the intersectionality of disability and gender, while challenging Western-centric frameworks by advancing the decolonization of language used in disability discourse. Her work spans policy reform, inclusive education, and digital accessibility—grounded in a vision of justice that centers lived experience. She also mentors young people with disabilities, encouraging them to lead and shape a more inclusive future.
